In northern Italy, the town of Portofino is renowned as an idyllic vacation destination. Ralph Coppelli, one of Focusers’ talented frame designers, traveled there to visit his grandfather who owned a luxury hotel favored by elite members of Europe’s monied class. Ralph decided to stay and tend to his family’s Lavagnina and Pignol olive oil business in the day and party all night at his family’s hotel. But Ralph did not forget Focusers, and he's sent us many photos of frames inspired by those worn by hotel guests. One frame style stood out among Ralph's samples and we decided to add them to our Focusers line.
Our aptly-named "Portofinos" are definitively a retro eyeglass style because that's what the “Cognizati“ insist on wearing. Portofinos have a boxed-circle rim shape, but are enhanced with angled accents along the brow. Made from top-quality Mazzucchelli zyl, Portofinos are available in a no-two-alike Tortoise Shell pattern, in a choice of classic brown and gold Tortoise Shell or Honey Demi. Whether as sunglasses or prescription glasses, Portofinos will give you a classy Mediterranean aspect, as if you just stepped out of a Fellini film.
