One of our shareholders is an ardent collector of smoking pipes. In fact, he has hundreds of pipes from all over the world. Last summer while sitting around the table with our staff and designers, he explained that the most valuable and best looking pipes are made of briar that has straight grain "angel hair", or very fine parallel lines embedded in the bowl of the pipe. After showing us a few examples, we were inspired to develop a traditional tortoise shell eyeglass frame, and superimposing over them a "straight grain" etched pattern that is similar to a cherished "straight grain" pipe. The result is this highly unique red amber tortoise shell frame in a classic p-shape style having a subtle wood grain- simply magnificent!
Straight Grain Briars are named for the "straight grain" feature of fine tobacco pipes.
